Check to see the different deductibles that are available.  $250, $500, $750 are the most common.  The lower your deductible, the higher your monthly cost

Lifetime/Annual Maximum

Look to see if there is any type of maximum!  Lots of companies have unlimited lifetime coverage

Hereditary Conditions

Check to see if the insurance company covers breed specific hereditary conditions.  Ex: Shepherds may be more prone to hip dysplasia or breathing issues related to brachycephalic breeds (pugs, french bull dog, ect.)

Flexibility

Many insurance companies offer flexible plans that allow you to adjust your deductible and reimbursement level to fit your monthly bill

Ease of Use

Many insurance companies have mobile apps making it easier to submit a claim! Most, if not all, have gone to an electronic form of submission

The Fine Print

Take a look at the sample policy the company offers and see what exclusions they may have

Things to be aware of when signing up for pet insurance

Unfortunately, pet insurance does not cover any type of pre-existing conditions
